Kick off the ski season with Snoqualmie Nordic Club!

Sat-Sun Nov 5 & 6 2011 At beautiful Guye Cabin on Alpental road, Snoqualmie Pass

Saturday, Nov 5

    • All day Dryland training for nordic instructors at Hyak, 10 AM

    • 1 PM Guye Cabin open for SNC. Meet for hike to Lodge Lake with Derik Brown and others, or explore Alpental area.

    • 6-7 PM Potluck dinner

    • Bring non-alcoholic beverages and something that you like to eat, plus enough to share with 6-10 people.

    • 7-8 PM SNC kickoff meeting. Discuss with SNC Board ideas for the coming season, hear what the Board has been doing.

    • 8 PM Music, hang out. Bring your instruments!

    • 10 PM Lights out. Cost for those sleeping over is nominal and is shown below.

The cabin is similar to the Mountaineers cabins: clean and comfortable, with bunks, heat, showers, indoor toilets, and electricity.

Sunday, Nov 6

    • 9 AM Pancake/French toast breakfast. If you plan to join the breakfast, please RSVP to Derek Brown so that we have a rough count.

    • 10 AM Pack-up, clean-up

    • 11 AM Hike, or ski waxing with experienced SNCers.

Join any events that you like, and invite your friends!

What to remember if you join the potluck or stay the night:

  • Food: For potluck. If you plan to hike before or after, bring lunch or snacks as needed.

  • Musical instruments

  • Sleeping bag, pillow, towel

  • Warm clothes, personal items, hiking gear

  • Cash or check (not credit card) for WAC lodging and use (see below)

  • Skis for help with waxing, if you'd like.

Guye Cabin fees for current WAC members are only $15.00 per night per person (which includes two days), or $5.00 for day use. Teenagers (age 13-18) of Members pay members rates. Non-member spouse or significant other pays the guest fee. Kids of members and their guests under 13 are free! There is no parking fee. WA Alpine Club membershiphttp://www.wacweb.org/About/join.view

Driving directions (Hint: Just a short way up the road to Alpental, watch for the red, Sahalee Ski Club on your right. Now, look across the street and behind some trees for the parking and cabin of the Washington Alpine Club).

From Seattle, or points west:

I-90 East to Snoqualmie Pass. (About 52 miles from Seattle);

Exit 52;

Turn left to follow Alpental Road (906) under interstate overpass toward Alpental Ski resort;

Bear right at fork continuing toward Alpental on Erste Strasse (about 100 yds past interstate overpass);

Continue about 200 yds on Erste Strasse to find Guye Cabin on left.

From Yakima, or points east:

I-90 West to Snoqualmie Pass

Exit 53 (don't miss it - no second chance in this direction!);

Turn left, following Yellowston Trail Road, to cross under interstate overpass;

Turn right on Highway 906;

Follow 906 for about 3/4 mile past Summit at Snoqualmie West Ski area and then under interstate again;

Bear right at fork continuing toward Alpental on Erste Strasse (about 100 yds past interstate overpass);

Continue about 200 yds on Erste Strasse to find Guye Cabin on left.
